Lower French Alps: Discover the Hidden Gems of Drôme with Jona Tours

Nestled between the Alps and Provence in southeast France, the Drôme is one of the country’s best-kept secrets — a region of wonderful food, characterful local wines, and beautifully varied landscapes. From rolling valleys and clear rivers to hilltop villages and fields of lavender, it offers a quieter, more authentic side of southern France.

This carefully designed journey takes you through the heart of the region, beginning with your arrival in Lyon and transfer to the Drôme. Along the way, you’ll explore historic towns such as Valence, Grignan and Die, wander through picturesque villages, and discover dramatic natural sites including the Ardèche Gorges and the Vercors mountains. There are opportunities to visit vineyards, meet local producers, enjoy regional specialities, and experience traditional events or festivals.

Throughout the tour, you’ll be accompanied by your expert guide David—who lives in the region and knows it exceptionally well. A natural storyteller, he brings its history, culture and landscapes to life, while also taking you to hidden places and lesser-known gems that most visitors never see.

Staying in welcoming guesthouses and enjoying local foods, this tour offers a relaxed and immersive way to experience the Drôme — rich in scenery, flavour and local character.

I really enjoyed the trip, so much so, that I have just booked the higher Alps tour next year! Had a wonderful trip, with a wonderful guide. Enjoyed the accommodation, and the food was excellent, with good service. The holiday was without incident, and this is due to all the hard work and dedication of everyone concerned. Thank you once again for a wonderful holiday.

Your organisation is faultless, from the
information you provided before we left, to the day to day (almost hour to hour), adjustment to the itinerary as weather and time indicated. What was the high-light for us? Impossible to choose one, there were so many!
