Discovering the Dordogne

This is a chance to stay in Jona’s home – a large town house situated in the famous agricultural town of Ribérac. The house can accommodate 14 guests, but the maximum number for these holidays is 7 members. Rooms are not ensuite but the house has 6 toilets, 2 bathrooms and one shower room. The garden is 2 acres and contains variuos fruit trees, including pear, apple, cherry, plum, fig and walnut trees. A large pond is situated in the centre of the land with a natural spring. There is also a stream running at the garden’s boundary. In the garden wildlife abounds. Ribérac has the largest market in the Dordogne, held every Friday.

Travel by return flights to Bergerac or Bordeaux airports and includes private transfers to and from both. Some members prefer to drive to Riberac from the UK.

We arrange and book the journeys for you. During the holiday we make a variety of visits to famous sites and ancient towns, castles and chateaux. For example, boat trips on the rivers at Brantome and Dronne. We visit ancient cave paintings, take a train journey through vineyards, go wine tasting, visit Monolithic churches, and take a walk round a beautiful lake, plus much more.

The group is usually a mixture of couples and singles.

A few words to say thank you for an absolutely great holiday. It exceeded my expectations. You made us to welcome in your home. I really did feel “at home”. The food was excellent; your cooking, the girls meals and the meals out. The restaurant in St Vincent was a delight but so was the one in Aubeterre. The Basins des Lumiènes at Bordeaux blew my mind away. The Cite du Vin another amazing experience. We had read about both in French but seeing them was something else. Then there was a foodie day, nut oil and caviar and more history at Aubeterre and Brantôme. Did we do all of that and the market in 10 days?! Your selection gave us a great variety and a huge amount of interest. It was lovely too to have different drivers/guides; all special in their own ways. Thank you again!

I really enjoyed staying in your lovely house and sleeping in your bedroom surrounded by all those beautiful and interesting things. I enjoyed all the activities, especially the nice, peaceful river trips. The château de Bourdeilles and the little Alfred de Vigny museum at the distillery made me very nostalgic as they took me back to things I learned about at uni and have hardly thought about since. Many thanks to you and the girls for looking after us so well, and all the group members were so kind and thoughtful too, ready to help and interesting to chat to. It was a really lovely break.

A big thank you for a lovely break in the Dordogne. Interesting group of people – great food and tour guides! Our final dinner in Aubeterre was particularly good. I’ve just typed out our itinerary and it’s amazing how much we packed in especially in the heat. Your pool was a life-saver for me!
