Birdlife abounds with sea eagles, great northern divers, waders, and thousands of puffins. The unique vegetation includes rare plants and abundant berries. Thank you so much for a terrific holiday! I loved the West Fjords; its remoteness really appealed to me, and it was absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed all the hotels, Hotel Dupavik; I think, of all the places we stayed, all of us on the tour were enchanted by the quirkiness of the hotel; it was a cross between staying in someone’s family home and a museum! I especially enjoyed staying at Heydalur too because of the horses. I enjoyed my rides very much and also had time to go for a long walk up the valley; it was so peaceful. We saw so much, these are some of the things which stand out for me. I loved all the places which we visited, all the interesting museums and all the amazing scenery, especially the beautiful red sand beach and the snow- covered mountains which we crossed; I had never seen such snow before! Those precipitous roads with their hairpin bends and am full of admiration for Thor’s driving; we always felt perfectly safe with him at the wheel. What was very special about this tour was the friendliness of the group members. I will especially remember the friendliness of the Icelanders in the West Fjords, especially all those who provided our delicious soup and home- made bread lunches, hot chocolate and doughnuts. I am so pleased that Fanney was our guide and Thor our driver again, they are so friendly, kind and make us laugh! Since I returned home everyone has been asking me about my holiday and asking me whose tour company I travelled with and I have not been able to praise Jona Tours enough, so I hope that others may be able to experience Iceland with you too. Once again Jona, thank you so much for making a long- held ambition of seeing the whole of Iceland come true. I am truly grateful.

We had a wonderful time on the Western wilderness tour, Fanney and Thorstein were superb. We loved Djupavik, the hotel is magical. The morning tour of the herring factory and afternoon swim at Krossneslaug was Hugh’s perfect day. We loved the helicopter flight, well worth doing.
At Reykjavik airport, we were asked to complete a tourism questionnaire. The interviewer was amazed we had been to Djupavik. Her husband’s family own one of the houses near the hotel, and we had seen his mother there! We are now thinking about doing the Iceland winter tour next March! Thank you again.

It was another fabulous tour. I really love the Westfjords and to have the snow made it very special. Magnus said it was very rare to see the green mountains with the snow like that. I was lucky enough to stay in the little red house in Djupavik this time and it was like having your own cosy summerhouse. Heydalur was so relaxing and I went riding again and learnt how to tolt! I was amazed at how many different birds we saw. I had to buy the bird book. As you know, Iceland is my ‘happy place’. I feel so relaxed and well when I’m there. Our group all got on really well and I knew some of them from other tours. It’s like going away with friends. Fanney is a wonderful guide and Thorsteinn is such a skilful driver. Those hairpin bends going down to the Red Sands were quite something. I shall have to choose as I would like to do the Westfjords again next autumn as I’m keen to see the sheep and horse round ups. And the autumn colours. Thank you so much Jona for giving us memories of a lifetime on your amazing tours,

Lovely to get your welcome letter home. It was a wonderful trip, enhanced by Fanney’s guiding. Thorsteinn came up tops too. Of course, you were sorely missed, but knew you would be there in spirit! We all seemed to gel well together, now I am left with remarkable memories. It was also special to revisit places from years past.

The tour was brilliant. I enjoyed every day - didn’t even mind the few days of cold weather. In fact I think it added to the excitement and experience of Iceland. The scenery was breath taking especially the snow covered mountainous areas. The hotels were clean and comfortable and. Of course Fanney and Thorstein remain as good as ever. Having been driven and guided around Iceland three times by them I can not imagine any other team being as superb as them. I will always be interested in any ‘new’ tour of Iceland so long as my aging body will allow!

Thank you so much for the brilliant time I had on the Western Wilderness tour. You had organised everything right down to the last detail so all we had to do was relax. I thought I had seen some amazing scenery on your Northern Lights tour but this was even more spectacular. I just can’t wait to return! I can’t think of anything you could improve on as it was all so perfect. My favourite hotels were the farm, especially the horses, it was wonderful to be able to ride an Icelandic horse and the hotel at Djupavik. It was so full of history and character. You find such interesting hotels, Jona. Fanney and Thorstein were amazing. With your input as welll, I feel that I’ve not just visited Iceland but really got to know and understand it.
— Lyn - Western Wilderness Tour 2023
The magic of Iceland is now in our brain’s memory boxes to be cherished, thank you for making our holiday so wonderful. Neil and I found Iceland just as amazing as on our two previous visits, and we will make sure we do not stop at three Icelandic encounters.
